Propranolol: The Beta-Blocker for Hypertension and Anxiety
What is Propranolol?
Propranolol is a non selective beta-blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), angina, and other heart conditions. It is also used to manage anxiety symptoms, particularly those related to public speaking and performance.
How Propranolol Works
Propranolol blocks beta-1 and beta-2 receptors in the heart, reducing heart rate, blood pressure, and the heart’s oxygen demand. It also blocks the effects of adrenaline, which helps alleviate anxiety symptoms like palpitations.
