Tamsulosin: The Key Medication for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
Tamsulosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic antagonist used to control symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in men. It relieves urinary symptoms like frequent urination and difficulty starting urination by relaxing muscles in the prostate and bladder.
Mechanism of Action
Tamsulosin selectively binds to alpha-1 receptors in the smooth muscle of the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra. This causes muscle relaxation, improving urine flow and reducing the symptoms associated with BPH.
