Montelukast: The Leukotriene Receptor Antagonist for Asthma and Allergies
What is Montelukast?
Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist used for the treatment and prophylaxis of asthma and allergic rhinitis (hay fever). It is also indicated in exercise induced bronchoconstriction in children above 6 years of age. It works by blocking the action of leukotrienes, chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and allergic reactions.
